High potential and gifted education (HPGE)
Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.
At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.
Our high potential and gifted education opportunities
Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW. This program is divided into four domains to provide a comprehensive approach that nurtures multiple areas of high potential and giftedness.
- Creative domain – refers to natural abilities in imagination, invention and originality.
- Intellectual domain – refers to natural abilities in processing, understanding, reasoning, and the transfer of learning.
- Physical domain – refers to natural abilities in muscular movement and motor control.
- Social-emotional – refers to natural abilities in self-management and relating to and interacting with others.
Across the domains, some of the opportunities we offer include:
- Access to the Creative Arts syllabus, including students participating in visual arts, music, dance, and drama
- Targeted music programs with partnership of The Rhythm Village program
- STEM programs integrating ICT technologies such as the Blue Bots, Sphero and Robotics kit.
- Whole-school sports days including modified ball games, gymnastics and obstacle course navigation.
- Swim scheme program targeting water safety and 'how to swim' initiatives
- School-based Speech and Occupational therapists to support social-emotional growth and communication goals.
