Our school

Cairnsfoot School is a public school for students with moderate or severe intellectual disabilities with many of our students having additional needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorders and physical disabilities. Cairnsfoot school caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 12 and currently has 107 students enrolled across 17 classes.

Cairnsfoot School aims to provide a caring, safe, quality learning environment while respecting the dignity and individuality of all members of the school.

The staff, in partnership with parents and the wider community create functional personalised learning support plans for students across the Key Learning Areas (KLA's). Using the mainstream curriculum with a strong emphasis on effective communication, high standards of social behaviour and the productive use of learning and leisure time.

Students and their families encounter numerous challenges including the transition from school to adult services. To ensure that families are best able to meet these challenges the school works in close partnership with outside agencies to foster mutual understanding, respect and trust.

We have recently moved sites and are now located at Brighton Le Sands, in a purpose built school specifically designed to suit the needs of our students.
