Programs

Cairnsfoot School provides students with a high quality, meaningful education using the NSW Kindergarten to Year 10 syllabus, Kindergarten to Year 6 syllabus and life skills syllabus' for Years 7 to 12.

Kindergarten to Year 6 focuses on six Key Learning Areas (KLAs):

  • English
  • mathematics
  • science and technology
  • human society and its environment
  • personal development, health and physical education
  • creative arts.

In the early primary years we put a strong emphasis on the development of play, socialisation and communication skills. Working and moving as a group and tranistioning within the class and school environment helps to prepare students for their future learning.

As students move to the primary years a stronger focus is put on generalising skills for accessing the community, academics move to a more functional level and leisure and community skills become more significant.

Years 7 to 12 focus on KLAs within the life skills syllabus, some of these include:

  • English
  • mathematics
  • human society and its environment
  • creative arts
  • languages
  • personal development, health and physical education
  • science
  • technology.

As students move through the high school years community access, socialisation and communication skills continue to be prioritised and generalised as students prepare for their lives after school. Sport, physical activity and leisure skills are given a focus as we encourage students to develop the skills neccessary to partcipate fully in a healthy, happy life with independence and autonomy.
